SAP & DevOps – Unit Testing

About the webinar

Because of the complex architecture, the integrations with multiple third parties, the use of numerous tools and various User Interfaces, it is usually quite difficult to implement DevOps when you are using SAP.

The teams’ mindset, lack of clarity about the requirements, combined with a lack of Object Oriented coding practices, a lack of modularization and overloading methods to incorporate multiple functionalities etc. usually makes Unit Testing seem impossible.

In order to make the first step towards DevOps and automated testing, we need to change the mindset of the SAP teams, get automation tools in place, all the while staying within comfortable coding styles and techniques to avoid a resistance in adapting new methodologies. But, how do we get there?

Unit Testing shouldn’t be considered as User Acceptance Testing & System Integration Testing (UAT/SIT), as each test has its own purpose. ABAP Unit Testing will be used by the developers to test the functionality of the methods and ensures that the required output is generated. This will help in identifying bugs at an early stage and can be fixed before the changes are imported to Quality and Pre-Production systems.

T-Shaped DevOps Professionals

with Jayne Groll, CEO DevOps Institute

About the webinar

Find the slides here!

The digital transformation is real! To adapt, IT professionals need to transform their own skillset to become more multi-dimensional by gaining both depth and breadth of a wide variety of knowledge and competencies. Historically, while IT has been built on a foundation of specialty (or “I” shaped) silos, the DevOps principle of “shifting left” is opening up opportunities for developers, operational staff, security and others to grow their skills portfolio, advance their careers and become “T”-shaped.

Hands-on coding with Ansible

About the webinar

Ansible is a radically simple IT automation engine that doesn’t need any agent infrastructure on the clients that are managed. Ansible only needs a ssh daemon and luckliy that comes installed out of the box on most environments. As such, Ansible is quickly gaining traction compared to frameworks like Puppet and Chef.

Ansible is also great for cloud provisioning, which we will explore in future posts. This webinar provides a hands-on introduction to Ansible. Of course, Phani Bhushan will also be ready to answer any specific questions during the webinar. However, if you already have an inquiry, you can let us know during registration, and Phani will address it online!
