AI Adoption: How Exposed is your Sensitive Data?

About the Event

As AI tools proliferate across every imaginable business process, so do the risks. Some are novel and driven by the nature of AI itself, for example the risk of your proprietary data leaking in to the training set of a Large Language Model, never to be excised.

In other cases, AI merely amplifies existing risks to a new magnitude, eg:

  • Automatically transcribing sensitive conversations that will increasingly fall within the scope of Subject Access Requests
  • Lowering the expense and increasing the sophistication of phising and other social engineering attacks, by better impersonating tone
  • Intellectual property challenges arising from your AI suppliers in turn using third-party AI products whose training data may be subject to licensing claims

Take the example of Subject Access Requests (SARs), which accelerated after the introduction of GDPR. As AI has reduced the cost of transcribing and summarising meetings, companies have signed up for 3rd-party SaaS solutions to deliver this obvious efficiency gain. Some meetings, however, are so sensitive that generating a perfect transcript of their content creates unacceptable risk of discovery through SARs, either directly or to your provider as a processor of personal data.

For companies already on top of their GDPR, access management and data classification obligations, adjusting policies to handle the additional risks from AI is straightforward. For those behind, AI threatens to blow the lid on that unfinished business.

Who is this for?

  • IT leaders seeking to pro-actively manage the risks of AI tools in their technical landscape
  • Data protection and privacy professionals who want to stay ahead of an emerging threat that makes their challenging work even tougher
  • Business leaders hoping to confidently manage AI-related risks to reap productivity benefits across their processes

What can you expect to learn?

After this event, you will understand how AI generates novel risks, and amplifies existing risks as outlined above. You will also understand the work ahead to reduce your exposure and adopt AI tools safely and confidently.

“In more conversations than we can count, we find ourselves disabusing executives of their notions about what creates an AI advantage. A company needn’t aspire to be another AWS, Microsoft, Google, or Adobe…few companies outside the tech world are monetizing their own digital innovation. For them, innovation involves offering a fresh solution atop a base of digital capabilities. Competitors all have access to the same AI, yet business outcomes vary profoundly.”
